Tacos
As we stand there in the midst of night
Perfect rows of cars waiting at the stop light
The world happening around us
As we’re happening to the world
I ask you,”What am I thinking?”
Amusement along with something deeper
darkens your eyes as you say to me
“Tacos”
I smile begrudgingly
that you can read my mind so well in this moment
Tacos race across my mind
An aphrodisiac I hold onto
That mirrors the desire that aches for you
Thoughts of tacos help me cope
The desire I have to consume you
Though eventually I give in and lose
a part of me knows
nothing can expand between us
outside this moment
yet
we hold onto something anyway
In the midst of night
surrounded by cars
teasing kisses
and tacos
