By River Ordóñez
I’ll devastate your tongue
Tongue-twister, mouth eater
Let me claim your lips
Take my hand in yours
Those church bells can’t hold us back anymore
Look into my eyes not the cross on my neck
God would cry if he heard what I’d said
I would drink his tears nonetheless
Tell your mother to speak her prays
While I take her daughter out to the fair
You quiet my heart
Pounding-aches, squirming legs
We’ll always just be girls you said
So I sat all alone near the setting sun
While you sought to find a god in the rough bell chimes
