by Neissa Jacques
I can’t believe you’re my muse.
You’re the reason my pen moves,
though your absence lingers in every room.
You’ve left such an impact on my pen, filling all the pages with memories of when.
Now I write about you just to avoid our end.
Somehow, I’m still wallowing,
searching for the future I once dreamt.
You’d never betray me in my stories,
that’s the best part of my writing.
I can twist it all and rewrite every memory.
I doubt you even care,
I doubt you even remember the color of my hair,
but I remember your eyes having a drop of amber, making it seem so rare.
I was so lost in them I never listened to your warnings
I never should’ve been the one left yearning,
left writing about a ghost every morning.
I erased all the noise, replaced it with silence.
Erased our goodbye, and made you the man who’d never let me down.
I write to keep you here, to stop the pain that never clears.
You were the villain in my life, yet in my stories, you are still my light.
I hold you in ink, a memory I hope to expand.
